Announcing New Zealand SAP User Group Conference 2009

NZSUG chairperson announces Conference 2009 agenda and speakers

Auckland, New Zealand - October 29, 2009 - Chairperson of the New Zealand SAP User Group (NZSUG) Nigel Bernie today announced the agenda for the annual NZSUG Conference, which will take place on 11 and 12 November at Deloitte House in Auckland.

The NZSUG, which is in discussions to include the SAP Business One and BusinessObjects user groups, helps SAP customers maximise the value of their SAP investments through peer-to-peer knowledge sharing and networking. The NZSUG Conference brings together customers, industry experts, SAP professionals and services and channel partners, to hear the latest industry news on SAP products and development and share user experiences.

Key themes for the NZSUG Conference include core SAP applications, Value Engineering, Business Intelligence and SAP BusinessObjects solutions.

Recently appointed NZSUG Chairperson Nigel Bernie said, “Peer-to-peer learning is a powerful way to learn, being more engaging and more relevant for most people. At the conference, attendees listen to and learn from the experiences of peers, as well as thought leaders and SAP experts from New Zealand and Australia. This year we have many SAP users willing to share some pretty exciting ideas about creating value in innovative ways.

“The keynote speakers at the NZSUG Conference will provide insight into specific business issues facing SAP users in the current climate. Key issues such as sustainability, TCO and how IT can pave the way out of the recession will be covered at the event.

“We’re all seeking to understand the true value of our SAP investment. The NZSUG Conference is a great opportunity to share knowledge and lessons and explore opportunities to increase the value of SAP in your organisation. It’s also a time of collegial networking with colleagues and other SAP customers, consultants and partners.

“While most conferences are struggling to maintain attendance this year, NZSUG events continue to thrive. We had 90 attendees at the Auckland NZSUG Summit in 2008 and this year we expect even more registrations. That speaks volumes considering the recession we’re moving through.”

This is the first NZSUG Conference to draw together the SAP and SAP BusinessObjects communities. They will continue to share knowledge in vertical streams, but bringing them together under the NZSUG framework adds a new dimension to the SAP user community in New Zealand and will bring the benefits of cross fertilisation to each group’s members.

The SAP Business One community is also meeting on 12 November at SAP to hear user experiences and to discuss joining NZSUG.

The NZSUG Conference is open to members and non-members to attend. The 2009 agenda includes the following key speakers:

  • Craig Erskine, Mighty River Power
  • Gavin Martin, Kordia
  • Nigel Bernie and Beate Elsner, Vector
  • Stephen Campbell, Holcim
  • Rick De Ataide, SAP (Business intelligence road map)
  • Greg Harbour, SAP (sustainability)
  • Tim Wilkes, SAP (Business Suite 7 in plain English)
  • John Holley, John Gola and Stephen Doyle, Auckland Regional Council
  • Basil Wood, Paragon Consulting
  • Ian Hassell, Neotek
  • Dave Farrelly and Nadeera Hoosen, Deloitte
  • Thomas Wieberneit, Ciber

This year’s conference is sponsored by SAP New Zealand and Tango Group. To view the full agenda for NZSUG Conference 2009, visit www.nzsug.co.nz/event/nzsug-meeting-auckland-november-2009
