SAP AG (NYSE: SAP) has kicked-off the SAP® TechEd 2009 event season, the company’s longest-running technical and business process conference series. At a time when companies need both skilled professionals and agile, efficient IT solutions that can efficiently adapt to change, attendees can gain the inspiration and skills needed to maximize impact on their organization while enhancing their careers. SAP TechEd features hands-on technical training and provides attendees the opportunity to build real connections with SAP experts and community members. In its 13th year, SAP TechEd 2009 will be held in four locations around the globe: Phoenix, Arizona, from October 13-16; Vienna, Austria, from October 27-29; Shanghai, China, from November 11-12; and Bangalore, India, from November 18-20.
“SAP customers and partners continue to demonstrate that the strategic use of IT is critical to success in today’s dynamic and ever-competitive marketplace,” said Zia Yusuf, executive vice president, Global Ecosystem and Partner Group, SAP. “At SAP TechEd, attendees have the opportunity to engage directly with product experts, talk face-to-face with peers to share best practices, and gather information and ideas to maximize their IT investment to tangible value back to the business. The cost-effective, relevant and accelerated learning that SAP TechEd provides is more important now than ever.”
Keynote presentations will be hosted by Jim Hagemann Snabe, member of the SAP Executive Board leading the Business Solutions and Technology organization and Vishal Sikka, chief technology officer (CTO) of SAP. Sikka will speak at the Phoenix and Bangalore events, Hagemann Snabe will speak in Vienna and Shanghai. Keynote topics will demonstrate how SAP technology can help companies meet the increasing demands to reduce cost, increase transparency and drive efficiency, as well enable maximum flexibility in today’s fast-paced business environment. Inventor and author Ray Kurzweil will address the crowd during the opening keynote of the SAP TechEd Phoenix event.
Worldwide Technical Community Comes Together for Hands-On Learning Experience
SAP TechEd features expert-led classes on a range of subjects, from introductory sessions to deeply technical, hands-on workshops, with local product managers and developers on hand at each location. Customizable session agendas and hundreds of technical and business process sessions designed for everyone from beginners to experts enable SAP TechEd attendees to learn how to use the power of SAP technology to effectively maximize their impact within their organizations. Workshops and lectures will feature topics that include the SAP NetWeaver® technology platform, SAP® Business Suite software and the SAP® BusinessObjects™ portfolio, along with other hot topics such as sustainability, reducing total cost of ownership and ensuring continuity.
At the event, a Community Clubhouse will feature an environment where attendees can interact with mentors, peers and event speakers. Designed to facilitate networking and knowledge sharing among SAP customers, partners and employees, the Clubhouse will be where attendees meet face-to-face and share information with some of the best minds in the industry. The Demo Jam competition, a regular highlight of SAP TechEd, will feature on-stage, high-energy demonstrations on the latest SAP-related technology projects, presented by SAP customers, partners and employees.
Growing Ecosystem Gathers at SAP TechEd

The event also provides an opportunity for many of the more than 1.8 million individuals who participate in SAP® Community Network online communities to gather offline. Members of these communities, including the SAP® Developer Network (SDN), Business Process Expert (BPX) and SAP BusinessObjects communities, contribute their knowledge, experience and perspectives through participation in the discussion forums, articles, blogs and wikis hosted by SAP. On average, 30,000 new participants sign up for these online communities each month, with nearly one million unique visitors per month.

SAP’s long term commitment to sustainability involves improving its own operations to become more sustainable and to delivering customer solutions to improve sustainability on a grand scale. SAP TechEd is committed to continuously improve its sustainability efforts, including efforts to reduce paper waste, minimize resource consumption, facilitate eco-friendly transportation, and minimize waste and carbon footprint of food services. The event will also feature educational sessions on SAP sustainability solutions and “Green IT,” along with community-driven sessions featuring Green IT and sustainability topics from customers, partners and employees.
